I had the pleasure of joining Tom Peppas for a magical opening weekend peek at the Fall River. We found the river in the best early season shape it has seen in several years with great weed growth and a solid hatch of BWO’s along with a few PMD’s, Caddis, and Yellow Sallies. We swung flies getting more grabs than seemed possible. A little off our spring creek game we finally even managed to land a few! Tom has been guiding for 32 years in the Northstate and has been the lead guide for the Clearwater House nearly as long. Tom and I are family friends and grew up in the same hometown of Paradise. He took Jerri and I on our very first guided trip, a sampling of the Pit River and an evening on Hat Creek over twenty years ago. Along with the Fall River, his guide service features the Pit River, Hat Creek & the McCloud along with a host of little known local creeks and stillwaters. He will be joining us this season as we expand our offerings. We are sure you will enjoy his gentle soul, wry humor and his willingness to share insights gained over a lifetime of fishing and guiding local legendary rivers. Drop us a line to schedule a day or two with Tom you will not soon forget!
