The legendary freestones in shadow of Shasta, the McCloud, Upper Sacramento and Pit Rivers are fishing outstanding right now. Water conditions, hatches and weather could not be better, consider this you invitation to get here now!
Guests have been enjoying outstanding fishing on our local freestones with some superb dry fly fishing with excellent hatches including evening bonanzas. Air temperatures have cooled which makes fishing midday fishing comfortable and productive. Folks are having success fishing dries and droppers during the day or nymphing with or with out indicators. If you prefer to throw streamers they produce as well, perhaps not as many fish, but larger ones on average.
Check out this report from Tayler Wells who visited recently before heading to guide for Rapids Camp Lodge in Alaska for the summer. “T” had this to say, “The following three days were by far the best trout fishing I have ever experienced in California. Its really difficult to put into words, so I will just let the pictures do the talking.” Tayler will be joining us this fall to guide on the Klamath, Lower Sac and Rogue Rivers. He is an exceptionally talented and gifted guide and more importantly, a delightful soul to spend a day with. He is a signature tier for Solitude Flies and will also be designing rods and fly lines in Oregon for Bob Meiser and Steve Gotshall starting this fall. We are very excited to have him aboard and recommend you schedule him early and often as we expect his schedule to fill quickly. Drop us a line to check his availability.
