Fly Fishing Dream Fish, McCloud River

The Brown Trout Last Day of the Season, McCloud River 11/15/2010

I had a well earned day off from guiding and of course went fishing.  It was the last day of the season on the McCloud River, so I took the short drive to say goodbye.  A few October Caddis were about so I opted to dry fly fish.  We’ve enjoyed our best season ever, both for fishing and for business and we feel lucky to be living our dream.  This evening session reminded me why I left a promising career as a counselor and administrator in Chico to live in Mt. Shasta and become a fishing guide.  A large Brown Trout, a rare treat on the McCloud River ate a dry fly, an even  rarer event, to become the last trout of my season on this river I love.  I concluded the lucky session with a magical photo as well.

    Nice fish Craig!

Congratulations on your successful season. No small accomplishment in this current economy.

I’m looking forward to seeing you this Friday.
