Lower Sac April 24th

Another Chunky Trophy 'Blow Sam & Greg

After a week of record temps in the 70’s and even 80’s I left the house this morning in a blizzard happy to be headed to the warmer climate in Redding.  The day started cool and blustery but Sam started out hot, landing a fish after a very short drift on his first cast.  A steady grab continued driven by a consistent hatch of PMD’s.  Sam hooked several and landed a few while Greg managed to hook a number of fish but without fail they managed to come unbuttoned.   By lunchtime we were in shirtsleeves and sunshine.  Flows on the Lower Sac have been coming up 250 cfs each day and the water clarity continues to be well below the norm but after a little lull the bite picked up again and Greg, who hasn’t been out for a few months found his game.  Sam couldn’t have been more pleased.  He was hosting Greg as the winning bidder of a trip he donated as a benefit to the California Fly Fishers Unlimited a club based in Sacramento where they are both members.  We had hoped to fish Saturday on the Upper Sac but with flows way up decided to save it for another trip.
