Every third Sunday of the month the Redding Spey Casting Club gathers at the Barge Hole on the Lower Sacramento River for some casting practice. They compare and test two handed gear and share tips. The group is lead by a couple talented instructors, Chris King and Michael Caranci who generously volunteer their time and share their expertise. On this Sunday my good friend and passionate steelheader, Ross Morrison loaned me Rio’s new AFS line which cast effortlessly on a couple switch rods I brought along. Ross, along with Michael also helped me shape up my D loop. A little BBQ, a beer and comaradarie with this great group concluded a beautiful spring day on the Lower Sac.
