Marty Seldon, fly fishing conservationist passes

Martin pleased with another Klamath River steelie Craig had the good fortune to spend a delightful day with Marty fly fishing on the Klamath River on December 7th and we were saddened to hear of his passing on December 28th.  Marty was a champion conservationist, fearless in taking on the tough battles to protect, preserve and improve fisheries in the the Northstate.

He was a leading member of the Northern California Federation of Fly Fishers where we had the opportunity to discuss local conservation issues with him in detail.  We also enjoyed a visit with him while in San Jose presenting a program for the Flycasters of San Jose club of which he was a member.

There will be a memorial service for Marty Seldon on Monday, January 2nd, at 11:00 AM at Temple Emmanuel, 1010 University Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126. There will be a potluck lunch afterwards at the temple. Please bring a dish that does not contain shellfish or pork.  Please RSVP by sending an email to

Martin enjoys a beautiful day and fine steelhead on the Klamath River Craig took a few pictures of Marty during his visit to the Klamath this month which we believe provide a glimpse of his enthusiastic and kind spirit.  We will miss Marty and all of his good work in the coming seasons.
