Northern California fly fishing guide Matt Formento reports on Pit River

Pit River springtime Rainbow April 16th, 2012

I spent the other day hiking around the Pit River. Pit 3 and 4 fished well. Sunny skies and a light breeze made for a perfect day on the water. We hooked up with a good number of healthy rainbows throughout the day. Lots of caddis coming off in the afternoon as well as yellow sallies with a few trout eating on top here and there.

Matt Formento, Northern California fly fishing guide Dead drifting black rubberlegs, prince nymphs, and caddis pupa was most productive with a few fish chasing black streamers as well. With some nice warm weather in the forecast it’s a good time to give this healthy fishery a look.  To schedule a date with Matt, just drop us a line.
