Northern California fly fishing guides enjoy summer evenings on Lake Siskiyou

The bite for trout has been best in the coves while the Smallmouth Bass have been in the main body near weed beds.  Both are taking buggers stripped on slow sinking lines readily, with size 8 Brown or Burnt Orange ones working best recently.  Bass will also grab small poppers and both bass and trout have been coming to the surface at dusk to eat Callibaetis Spinners.

On our last evening we met locals Cindy and Dick, who where fishing from their patio boat.  They invited us to join them for a glass of wine together while catching up.  We can highly recommend this for busy folks looking to enjoy a “date night” to relax and unwind (it beats going to the movies).  What a hoot!
