Paso Robles fly fisher lands trophy Klamath River steelhead, enters Shasta Trout “Hawg of Fame”

Ed with his Shasta Trout Hawg of Fame, Klamath River Steelhead Fly Fishing the Klamath River

January 27th

Ed Filice,  a maker of fine wine from Paso Robles and owner of La Filice Winery returned for another season on the Klamath River with local guide Craig Nielsen and enjoyed his best day ever! He was joined by his son Nick who also works in the wine industry for Silver Oak Cellars.  Both are accomplished anglers and with near perfect conditions along with eager fish, they made the most of their day. Ed landed several large fish including one big buck than gained him entry into Shasta Trout’s “Hawg of Fame.”

Big buck, one of Ed's finest Klamath River steelies to date Nick finds a colorful buck, trying to catch up to Dad! Ed and Nick are good friends and regular guests and Ed recently took up casting Spey Rods and now competes each year at the Spey-O-Rama, World Championships of Spey Casting held at the Golden Gate Casting  Ponds in San Francisco where Craig is one of the featured presenters.  The event is scheduled for  April 19-22nd this year, we hope you’ll join us!
