Steelhead Fly Fishing on the Trinity River: Guides Reports

Mont poses a chrome beauty We are experiencing our best early steelhead fishing on the Trinity River since the epic 2007 season.  The storms that blew through in the first weeks of October brought some grabby fish into the upper river and guests have enjoyed some very solid days both nymphing and swinging.  Flows have returned to low and clear which makes the game a bit more technical.  The weather has been phenomenal, not often when guests enjoy catching hot bright steelhead while getting a sunburn!  The forecast calls for more of the same.

The Chinook Salmon run is also very strong this year which bodes well for the upcoming egg bite as the Salmon begin to dig redds to spawn and the Steelhead stack up in the drop offs downstream of them.  We hope and expect this will be our most successful season in many on this legendary river and suggest you schedule soon while some of the finest local guides still have available dates.
