A colorful buck comes to net at sunset

January 6,  2011 For those willing to brave the elements, fly fishing in Northern California has been fair to good.  A series of cold storms blew through over the last month bringing frigid temperatures and ample precipitation.  While the fishing on the Klamath remained consistently good, finding a window to fish on the Lower Sac, [...]

Mark with the trophy of the trip

October 2010 Our first big storm of the season arrived last weekend with wind and rain that provided freshets and improved fishing for steelhead on the Klamath and Trinity and trophy trout on the Lower Sac and Fall River but dampened the bite on our local freestones, the McCloud, Upper Sac and Pit.  The storm [...]

Hat Creek Brown Trout on a dry

Leslie with a dry fly trophy 'bowThe fishing has held up surprisingly well considering the unseasonably cold and wet weather we have been experiencing recently. Hatches have been erratic at best but when they come off we have experienced some of the best fishing ever. Surprisingly flows are not an issue on any of the area streams with the exception of the Upper Sac which is best left to whitewater enthusiasts. With fair and much warmer weather in the forecast it appears even better fishing is arriving this weekend.
