Lower Sacramento River

Tai moved to the north state a few years ago and figured it was high time to get back into fishing and introduce his teenaged sons to the sport.  He opted to try his luck on the Lower Sacramento River in pursuit of trophy trout, with local guide Craig Nielsen, owner of Shasta Trout.   Tai and his son Isaiah enjoyed a consistently good bite under bright sunny skies,  including finding some exceptionally large fish.  Isaiah was new to the sport and had never caught a fish.  He was able to hook several including a true lunker that was played just next to the boat before he unfortunately lost it on a snag.  Shortly after he caught another nice Rainbow and celebrated his first fish ever!

More sunny day Rainbows for TaiIsaiah's first fish ever!Father and sonSoon after Isaiah landed another trophy Rainbow that topped the 20″ mark and instantly became a fly fishing “expert,” entering Shasta Trout’s Hawg of Fame.  Dad did pretty well also, being a quick study, he  landed numerous big Lower Sac ‘bows as the bite steadily improved over the day.  They are already planning their next trip, hoping Isaiah’s older brother will be able to join them as well.

If you are looking to treat a family member to some superb fishing consider this an invitation to get here now!
