Each season we arrange a trip or two to float, fish and camp on the Deschutes. If we had only one river to fish outside of Mount Shasta this would be the one. It has a great combination of Wild Rainbows and Steelhead that are surface oriented with great camping, whitewater and broad beautiful vistas. In 2008 we fished Father’s Day weekend successfully seeking fat Rainbows on Stonefly Dries. In September we returned for caddis dries and some nymphing. We have sampled both the Upper and Lower River for Steelhead swinging dries and sink tips as well as nymphing. The accompanying photos are from a Father’s Day trip we hosted for our good friends at Stickeen in 2007. If you or your group have an interest in the Deschutes or similar destinations please drop us a line.
