Jerri and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary by treating ourselves to dinner at the Trinity Cafe, a little Bistro in Mount Shasta, followed by an evening of dry fly fishing on the Upper Sac. For starters we sampled the Trinity’s “small plates” of Frito Misto Prawns and Coconut Shrimp Ceviche with a 2001 Dauvissat Chablis. We followed with main courses of Capellini Pomodoro & Grilled Wild Ahi along with a 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape. The wines were a tip from a friend on a recent trip and knocked us out. The Rhone red would have been better paired with Trinity’s Filet Mignon and Horseradish whipped potatoes but neither of us were in the mood for a steak. We suffered the poor pairing well. After sharing a dessert of Creme Brulee and Pete’s cofffee we headed to the river. We arrived right on time. Jerri’s first two casts got grabbed and she landed the second small gem. She caught fish after fish out of the same run and when they got a bit fussy at dusk we switched to a spinner which did the trick ;>). I found the perfect girl and had the perfect date. I’m still crazy about her after all these years.
