Will Johnson, proprietor of the Ashland Flyshop took off an afternoon to check out the fishing on the Upper Sacramento firsthand. I joined him for a few hours to catch up and to talk shop. We explored the midriver area, he with nymphs, I with a dry/dropper rig. We both found several fish (even in the bright sunlight) as we wet waded our way upstream, though a few of his were admittedly much larger than any of mine. We concluded our session with a cold beer and a promise to not wait so long to get together again.
